1. Biennial of Contemporary Art - Plovdiv will be held from August 19 to September 19, 2026 in the  Gallery of the Union Plovdiv Artists at 153 Tsar Boris III Obedinitel street and the Bomb Shelter under Bunardzhik Hill (next to the Commercial High School).
2.  Documents for participation can be sent from December 1 to December 10, 2025 only electronically to email address: - plovdivbien.art@gmail.com

Conditions for participation:

  1. The competition is open to all freelance artists from the country and abroad. Each author can send 2 works in the field of visual arts, created in the last two years.
  2. There are no restrictions regarding styles, means of expression and thematic preferences.
  3. Participation fee - 150 BGN/76.69 EUR
  4. The works must be originals, signed by the author and be his property. To not have been awarded in other competitive exhibitions.
  5. There are no restrictions on the minimum size of works. The maximum format is recommended to be 200 cm. height /100 cm. width . The works must be prepared in the form of exposure.
  6. The works must be accompanied by a completed participation form. Signing the form means agreeing with the Regulation and the General Terms and Conditions for participation. To get the participation documents, you can contact our team at plovdivbien.art@gmail.com

  7. The labels should be filled out in block letters (legibly) in Bulgarian or in English and glued on the back of the works.
  8. The organizers do not bear the costs of transport and are not responsible for losses or damages during transportation. The return of the works is within one month after the end of the exhibition (personally or at the expense of the author). If desired, the authors insure their works themselves.
  9. A commission of an expert jury performs the selection of the works.
 10. The works of the authors participating in the commission under point 9 shall not be judged.

SELECTION and DOCUMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART - PLOVDIV 2026

FIRST STAGE:

From December 1, 2025 to December 10, 2025, each author sends completed forms, as well as the necessary files visualizing the works with which he is applying. The documents for participation are sent only electronically to the email: plovdivbien.art@gmail.com

Documents for participation:

1. Form-declaration for participation and authenticity of work, which you can download.
2. Registration form to indicate of the works with which you will participate and brief biographical information.
3. For paintings and sculptures - quality photographs of works with dimensions - the long side of the image 2048 pixels - and a file size not exceeding 8 MB. Additional digital processing is not allowed.
4. For installations - a sketch of the work with indicated dimensions, graphic materials and those certifying the work;
5. For photographic works - photos, sketches and materials certifying the work of art;
6. For digital arts - video materials, photos and materials (by application)
7. Photographs of the works will be used to create an electronic catalog.

SECOND STAGE:

The results of the selection will be published on the website of the "Biennale of Contemporary Art - Plovdiv" on December 22, 2025. After the publication of the results, within three days the approved participants will receive a confirmation letter electronically with a bank account to transfer the fee for participation.

THIRD STAGE:

1. The approved works are transmitted in person or sent by courier from June 24 to July 13, 2026 to the address: st. Polk-Bonev 30, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. When sending a work from countries that are not members of the EU, it is necessary to be provided with the necessary documents certifying its ownership and residence in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
2. By filling out the form, the participant determines the value of his works in Bulgarian leva or euros and gives consent to be redeemed.
3. Upon sale, 30% commission is deducted from the agreed final price of the work for the organizers of the "Biennale of Contemporary Art - Plovdiv".
