“Anatomy of the Idea” April 28, 2026
Sometimes ideas are born from intuition, and sometimes they are the result of cause-and-effect relationships, hypotheses, scientific research, and experimental work. “Anatomy of the Idea” is an attempt to present the Idea as a linear process of development over time, in the context of the parallel interaction between the artwork and its cultural self-reflection.
In order to “recognize” an idea, it is necessary to touch upon its nature, which is a combination of various components such as a creative core and energy, context, form, and impact.
The present exhibition aims to showcase a representative selection from the two editions of the Biennale of Contemporary Art – Plovdiv, as a result of a “random” idea with cause-and-effect connections. The works, which at first glance appear to lack direct dialogue with one another, possess a sufficiently strong conceptual and artistic presence to be presented together in a single exhibition. The installations by Anastasia Andreeva and Ivan Uzunov, which won first place at the 2022 and 2024 biennales, will be presented again in this exhibition, this time to the audience of the city of Sliven.
A future creative and genre presence at the 2026 Biennale will be the conceptual photography of a team of artists from Sofia, curated by Ivaylo Stoyanov, who will be announced for the first time in “Anatomy of the Idea.”
